Australia Australia
For all good Kiwis that travel the first port of call always starts off in Australia.
I lived in Melbourne for 3 years and loved it. Theres aways lots of things to do and see in Victoria.
If your visiting these are things i can recommend to do while your there. Dandenongs - This is about 30 minutes from Melbourne its a range of mountains (mountains to Australians Hills to everyone else lol) here u can find tons of really great restaurants with international themes and great views. Plenty of Hotels and bush walks for those into nature and just a nice quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of Melbourne. Definately worth taking a day or two out of your schedule to visit. Melbourne Zoo is one of the best zoos in the world give yourself a day to check it out The Royal Botanic Gardens close to the city centre of melbourne and just a place you can enjoy for some quiet reflection or just an enjoyable walk, its huge covering over 30 hectares of land and u will find over 10,000 different varietys of plants and flowers. Great Ocean Road is one of Victorias mist famous landmark tourist attractions, main focus being the "twelve apostles" rock formations but also lots of nature walks, rainforest and is just a showcase of amazing scenery and native Australian animals. Lygon Street Carlton - being a coffee addict I had to mention this as its a short tram ride from the centre of Melbourne and your in a world of coffee shops and great eateries. Melbourne has a large Italian population and Carlton is where you can take advantge of it with fantastic cappucinos and pizzas. |
